Got here Tuesday night around 7:30. No furniture. Got a bank account, set up cable modem service, and they turned it on last night. However, there must be something screwy with the cables (not unlikely, since there’s a dish outside) because no signal gets to my modem, and I’ve rearranged the cabling several times. So Adelphia is sending somebody out Monday.
Argh.
Blue state? Well, locals put it like this: Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, with Alabama in between. Of course, the ones that say that mean it negatively–but thank God I’m in the Alabama part.
It’s not even purple here.
I’ve seen one white girl with cornrows doing the vanilla ice “I idolize violent criminals and hip-hop scum” routine, but that’s it. I haven’t seen any hippies so far or “skater boiz” or any “counter cultural” morons. And this is a college town.

While I was at this place getting my oil changed, this guy comes in and walks up to the desk to talk to the other guy, carrying a rifle case (did I mention that I live about three miles from the range?) He opens it, and they look at his new rifle. I was one of about six people waiting, and there was no freaking out at all, it was like nobody even noticed. Anschutz, a really nice rifle.

I just wish Adelphia would send somebody out earlier than Monday. And that the furniture would get here (I’d rather sleep in my bed than on this air mattress).
