Amazing.
Indiana is an extremely 2A-friendly state. But wow. Not like this.
I went to the county sheriff’s office today to get my carry license. Let me tell you how it works in Indiana. You go to the sheriff’s office or police station (depends on the county), fill out a half-page form, give them ten bucks, and they fingerprint you. They give you your form, and a pre-addressed envelope to the State Police. You put the form in the envelope with a money order for fifteen bucks, mail it off, and about two weeks later, your license comes in the mail. Just in an envelope. It’s printed on a piece of pepto-bismol pink paper, with CUT HERE lines around it. You cut it out, and if you’re smart, take it to Kinko’s and have it laminated.
I went into the office, and she gave me a form. It’s a full page, not the half page you fill out in Indiana, but it’s pretty much the same. I filled it out and showed her my Indiana license, she started typing and called PICS (the state instant check system). They have her a number, she typed it on the small form she had in the typewriter, pulled it out and had me sign it, then laminated it and gave it to me.
I went in to apply today. I walked out fifteen minutes later with my license in my billfold.
That is seriously cool.
Off to an important appointment.
