You’re not going to believe this nonsense.

After just moving to Pennsylvania from Indiana, I wanted to get politically active. One of the things I did was join the Operation Cleansweep yahoo group.

Operation Cleansweep is run by one Russ Diamond, who claims to be a libertarian. That’s going to be important here in a minute.

So I sent a “Hi, just moved to PA, tell me what I can do,” message. Nothing even vaguely partisan about it.

A bit later, a reply came through. Here it is, without the headers:

hey moderator. . .how about removing this website that
has nothing to do with cleansweep. . .

I had no idea what the problem might have been, or what website she was talking about, so I sent this message:

> hey moderator. . .how about removing this website that

Excuse me? Remove what website from what? What
exactly is your problem?

Oderint dum metuant
http://www.rightwingnation.com

to which I received this. Oh wait. Back up. Remember that this Russ Diamond bozo claims to be a libertarian? okay. Keep that in mind. Here’s his response:

We’ve had a number of complaints regarding the website included in your
signature. I’ll ask you to not include it if participating on this
board. I’ve deleted the posts which include it. If futher posts are
made listing the website, I’ll be required to ban you. Sorry.

I have not formed any personal opinion about the site. Thsi discussion
group is a non-partisan effort designed to unite. Regardless of the
merit of your site, it is causing division with more than one member,
so I’ll ask you to self-edit.

Thank you.

This is amazing. First, we have lefty whiners, none of whom was forced to click on a link or has apparently ever heard of a .sig file, moaning and complaining (but then, leftists always demand that no other voice be heard but their own). But the really amazing thing is that this gutless, emasculated coward, Russ Diamond, apparently is so unprincipled (libertarian, my ass) that he immediately rolls over for these lefty scumbags. Then there’s that arrogant crap about “reviewing” my site, as if my site is any of his goddamned business.

I unsubscribed–and promptly took a shower to get the Russ Diamond filth off.

Russ, if you’re a libertarian, I’m a Democrat.

I understand you were offended when your website tag was deemed inappropriate, and your posts moderated.
On behalf of all Libertarians, I apologize.

Most Libertarians would not be offended by you listing said website. Unfortunately there are a few ’strange ducks’ in the LP, thinking they’re arbiters of Libertarian political correctness.

As we all know, the strangest ducks quack the loudest.

I’m not offended by your website one bit, and should you want to post it anyplace I’m moderator, I’d be quite pleased!

I want to be frank with you.
These strange ducks think it’s ok to be ‘left-libertarian’, but the use of the words ‘right’ or ‘Conservative’ is taboo.

I’m not afraid of those labels one bit, and am proud to be both.
I’m a Libertarian; an NRA Libertarian and a self-defense Libertarian. (As in the self-defense War on Terror.)

Please don’t judge Libertarians by one experience.
He’s probably gotten a ton of heat and is afraid of controversy.

Perhaps you could design a personal landing page to guide people to your website that has a less controversial URL for now?

I’m currently running in a Special Election for US Congress as the Libertarian Candidate. It’s the 48th District of California, in South Orange County.

Orange County is one of the most conservative Counties in the USA. I’ll be running against some weirdo liberals and wishy-washy conservatives, so my job is to hold the Republicans feet to the fire.

Special election just got called two days ago, so the website won’t be fully operational until Monday afternoon.

I unsubscribed. I don’t need a yahoo list to be politically active, and I sure don’t need some gutless “libertarian” bowing to leftist censorship pressure–particularly since I didn’t say anything even vaguely partisan, nor did I force anyone to come to this site.

    Hey, Prof!
    I really like your site.

    Don’t sweat the lefty asshats!
They are losing the war in the blogosphere, radio, and (albeit slowly) television.

    Of course, I’m conservative…
