Argh! Today’s Fun
9:00 am: The wireless connection on my laptop went dead (there’s a desktop in my office, which the cable modem and wireless router is attached to). Repair connection. No connection. So I went into the office, and no connection there either. Reboot modem, router and computer (takes the damn thing forever to boot up). Still no connection. Reboot again, this time leaving it off longer. Nope, no connection.
9:30 am: Call Adelphia. We do the whole reboot thing and it doesn’t work. She gives me a ref number and connects me to tier 2. He can see my modem, but he can’t get it to respond to him. Schedules maintenance visit between 1 and 3 today.
3:00 pm: No maintenance guy. Find out that the local number for Adelphia in the phone book has been disconnected. Call the 888 number (again), explain, they connect me to their regional office. Explain again. He says he’ll contact the local office and see what’s up.
3:45 pm: Paula or Pauline or Paulette calls from Adelphia. “Somebody will be out there today but we don’t know who or when.”
4:55 pm: Call Adelphia (it’s almost five, and no maintenance guy). Explain, get connected to regional office, explain, same thing, contacts local office.
6:00 pm: Adelphia calls. Maintenance guy is on the way.
6:20 pm: Adelphia guy is here. Nope, not the modem. Not the router. Changes connections on cables in the office and down in the basement. Connected! Whew!
