Not Just NBC
This NASCAR entrapment story shouldn’t surprise anyone. After all, it’s just one more attempt by the liberal elite to demonstrate how stupid, bigoted, evil, and dangerous Americans are. Remember this little gem from Jane Smiley the day after the 2004 election?
Why Americans Hate Democrats—A Dialogue
The unteachable ignorance of the red states.

I just want to make sure you saw the subtitle there: “The unteachable ignorance of the red states.”
The election results reflect the decision of the right wing to cultivate and exploit ignorance in the citizenry.
If you don’t vote for liberals, you’re ignorant. There we have it. But it does get nastier:
Ignorance and bloodlust have a long tradition in the United States, especially in the red states.
. . .
Here is how ignorance works: First, they put the fear of God into you—if you don’t believe in the literal word of the Bible, you will burn in hell.
And of course, we have to have the Christian bashing. It’s a mandatory part of any liberal diatribe about the ignorance of Americans,
Of course, the literal word of the Bible is tremendously contradictory, and so you must abdicate all critical thinking, and accept a simple but logical system of belief that is dangerous to question. A corollary to this point is that they make sure you understand that Satan resides in the toils and snares of complex thought and so it is best not try it.
So “critical thinking” and “complex thought” are liberalism, and conservatism is a “simple but logical system of belief.” Never mind that the fact don’t fit liberalism. Just call conservatives simple minded or stupid, and that’s enough — because of course this is a cornerstone, a tenet of liberalism. And my personal favorite from this idiotic woman’s diatribe:
The history of the last four years shows that red state types, above all, do not want to be told what to do—they prefer to be ignorant. As a result, they are virtually unteachable.
They’re the elite, doncha know, so they must teach Americans not to be ignorant — though she’s right about one thing. No, we don’t like to be told what to do. That’s a great deal of the motivation behind that Revolutionary War.
We have to give them more to think about than they can handle—to always appeal to reason and common sense
This was, I’m sure, unintentionally funny, since reason and common sense are antithetical to liberalism. Which example would you like? The one about how a murderer shouldn’t be executed because he’s black? Or how about more money for welfare and education, when the facts demonstrate that the War on Poverty is a massive failure, and there is no correlation between spending on education and educational success? Or how about screaming about the poor terrorists at Gitmo or Abu Ghraib, and not being a bit concerned about terrorists beheading hostages?
But back to the original point: the smug elitism of liberals. It’s not just that they feel so superior; liberals love to be sneered at by those whom they feel are their betters. Consider this brief exchange I had with a liberal not long ago. She was telling me about her trip to NYC, specifically a very chi-chi pinky-up restaurant she visited.
“The waiter just sniffed at us and wouldn’t even respond!”
“And you didn’t leave?”
“It was wonderful!”
“Mmmmm-kay, then.”
Or how about this other exchange, when discussing Federalism:
“But what if Alabama reinstitutes slavery?”
What possible response is there to such an idiotic statement? None, but it does reveal just how much liberals despise Americans, and fear them. How else do you explain all this caterwauling and screaming about the “Religious Right” when women are being stoned for looking sideways at somebody in the sidewalk in the Arab world?
This NASCAR scamfest is just one more example. It shows how much more liberals fear Americans than anyone else. NBC could be doing a story on female circumcision or executions in the Muslim middle east, but no, it’s much more productive to show how dangerous and stupid Americans are — to validate liberals’ fears and fantasies.
It is this loathing of all things American that underlies some of liberalism’s most basic tenets, such as:
- Any American military power is evil unless it in no way serves the interest of the nation.
- Any expression of patriotism is bad, and must be countered with some statement of American sin, no matter how irrelevant.
- The UN and Europe — especially Europe, the only elite higher than American liberals — must always trump the US.
- Nobody but conservatives must be held accountable for their actions (you know, all those “mitigating circumstances” that remove responsibility from violent criminals).
So don’t be too hard on NBC. After all, what can you expect from such ninnies? Oh, and Rick Moran has an excellent piece on the same topic.

NBC Should Be Ashamed Of Its NASCAR Ploy
Is NBC treating NASCAR fans like bigoted idiots are they just that darn stuuuuuupid? NBC tried to wag the redneck dog but this dog proved to be smarter, and more intelligent, than the average hound, and NBC should be ashamed of itself for their actions…
[…] Remember back in April when NBC thought they would send Muslims to NASCAR races and film what intolerant rednecks NASCAR fans were? […]
