Sort of ironic that while in Indiana, I’d blog about something in Pennsylvania, I guess:
BELLEFONTE — Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira announced this afternoon he will seek a death sentence for a State College man accused in the beating death of a Penn State student in February.
Andrew Rogers, 28, is charged with first-, second-, and third-degree murder for the beating death of Youngcheol Park in Rogers’ 224 Nimitz Ave. home during a fight the evening of Feb. 23.
Police said Rogers used beer bottles, a rolling pin and a baseball bat to beat Park to death in what investigators called a horrific scene inside the home.
Okay so far. I voted for Madeira (guess which party he is, go ahead, guess). Here’s where it gets weird:
In addition to murder, Rogers is charged with robbery. Madeira said a felony, such as robbery, that is committed during the commission of another crime is considered an aggravating circumstance that would make the case eligible for the death penalty.
Stop. Time out. Hold on.
This Rogers guy beats somebody to death with beer bottles, a rolling pin, and a baseball bat, but is eligible for the death penalty because he also robbed him? What’s wrong with this picture? What kind of screwy state did I move to, anyway?

Generally, I believe people should choose their own battles, and realize that priorities differ from person to person. However, sometimes people rail about such silly things that they badly need to be slapped back into reality. I’m not picking on Cafeteria, mind; you can find this all over the blogosphere.
I’m a practicing Catholic, and a conservative one. I go to Mass an average of four times a week, not just on Sundays, and always on Thursdays for the Adoration of the Eucharist. But really, all this howling about The DaVinci Code is just, well, it’s stupid.
Repeat after me:
Fic-tion
Again:
Fic-tion
And a third time:
Fic-tion
Come on, now. The world is full of nutjobs. This is nothing more than more nuttiness. Most feel the novel was a good read (I tried, but just could not get into it), and most don’t believe it. One more time:
Fic-tion
If you’re offended by a novel (say it again: Fic-tion) then I really don’t see how you’re any less bad than the spoiled brats on the left who are always howling about how offended they are.
One more time:
Fic-tion
And for good measure, three last words:
Get. A. Life

Got here a little after 5. Checked in, then took our dogs over to our friends’ house and hung around till around 9. Came back here and crashed.
Interesting. This part of Indiana is way ahead of us in the spring department. Irises are already up and blooming! Also warmer. It was 36 when we left yesterday morning and when we got here, it was 72. I checked, and back home it was 58.
I’m not awake. I’m sitting here in a fog. I’ll be online later. Must wake up.
