Small Town! Snort!
I already said I hate Bill Kurtis, and here I am, watching Cold Case Files, and he narrates, “In a small town in Indiana,” and then the screen says Jeffersonville, IN.
Okay Bill, I realize anything with fewer than a million people is to you a small town, but by Indiana standards, Jeffersonville is not a small town. Jeffersonville has 30,000 people, and is contiguous with Clarksville and New Albany, which border the Ohio River immediately on the other side of Louisville, Kentucky. Clarksville, Jeffersonville, and New Albany are collectively known as Greater Louisville. I have, by the way, been to all three many hundreds of times.
Bill, by Indiana standards, Corydon (the state’s first capitol) is a small town. Population 2700. English is a small town. Population 673. Brownstown is a small town. Population 2900. Indiana is peppered with small rural towns. But Jeffersonville, Clarksville, New Albany, and Bloomington are definitely not small towns by Indiana standards. The Eckerty Y is a small town, and is a store, and three houses.
I have noticed a crucial demographic diffference between Indiana and Pennslvania. Whereas Pennsylvania has more or less the same concept of what is an is not a small town as Indiana, Pennsylvania is far more sparsely populated. Every five miles in Indiana there is another small town. Pennsylvania seems empty by comparison; you can go for an hour on the Pennsylvania Turnpike between exits because there are far fewer small towns.
But no, Bill, Jeffersonville is not a small town. Try to present information in the proper context, and take off those New York City glasses.

Dear liars,
Try to focus, please, on the real issues of the day.
Today in the Stars and Stripes:
“DOD report: Iraqis turning to militias for safety
Pentagon sees some improvements, but civil war”
And then, back a little while ago, another liar opened his big mouth:
“There are some who, uh, feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is: Bring ‘em on. We got the force necessary to deal with the security situation. “ - George W. Bush, July 2, 2003.
