Worse? Yes!
And I bet you thought it couldn’t get any worse, didn’t you? Did you really think there would be any change, even after the election? Well, guess again:
Folks, Congress hasn’t learned one thing from the elections. As House leaders, John Boehner and Roy Blunt have three….count them, 3…new spending bills on the schedule today. Worse still, the bills will be under suspension of the rules so their passage is highly likely.
[ . . . ]
Not only is the GOP supporting these new spending programs, but 66 Republicans helped vote down a free trade bill with Vietnam yesterday (the bill would have granted the country “normal trade relations”).
And just because it wasn’t enough to save us from the evil internet gambling menace, let’s see what the GOP has decided to save us from this time:
The bill in question concerns underage drinking. Now there is a problem the Founders clearly intended to be covered as a federal responsibility under the interstate commerce clause of the Constitution. Why else would there be no committee report accompanying the proposal concerning its constitutionality?
The underage drinking menace! We’re saved! Thank you, GOP Representatives! But no constitutionality report? How can that be!
So who voted against this idiocy?
Barrett (SC)
Campbell (CA)
Cantor
Feeney
Flake
Foxx
Gutknecht
Hensarling
Herger
Hostettler
Inglis (SC)
Johnson, Sam
Jones (NC)
King (IA)
Kolbe
Manzullo
Myrick
Otter
Paul
Pence
Rohrabacher
Taylor (MS)
Westmoreland
I’m just going to laugh about it. It’s much better for my blood pressure that way.

First the horses boondogle and now this :-(
[…] What will it take to convince GOP leaders that the party is fundeamentally off-track? Apparently not even a hugely embarrassing ass-kicking at the ballot box. First it was Mel Martinez over Michael Steele for the RNC chairmanship. Then it was word — via Robert Novak — that John Boehner was set to stay on as the Republican leader in the House. Now, Mark Tapscott reports on Congress’ latest shenanigans (via RightWingNation): The bill in question concerns underage drinking. Now there is a problem the Founders clearly intended to be covered as a federal responsibility under the interstate commerce clause of the Constitution.
