From Tim Blair:

John Howard has renamed the former Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. New title: the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

We can amend the Constitution.

Changing names is a nice start. My hat is off to Mr. Howard. What I would like to see for the U.S. is a much more sweeping change. Create a Home Guard Command (a real military command with teeth, Homeland security is a joke.). Provide troops, sailors and airmen along with all the hardware needed to support it. It’s mission? To protect and enforce U.S. sovoriegnty on our international borders via a military precence (and yes, shoot those who try to cross illegally into the U.S. You know? the same way most of the World protects their borders.). I mean the whole shabang; armour and infantry patrols and interdiction aircraft at the ready. Let Mexico and Canada, especially Mexico, known that the U.S. is not a dumping ground for their unwanted poor or a free gate way to Islamic terrorists. Our current situation is that our borders don’t really exist except on maps.

Oh, and while I’m dreeming of a secure America, use the existing law enforcement to round up all illegals here already. Give them one way ticket back home in a cattle car with a “persona non grata” attached to their name, face and finger prints in a CBP/Home Guard Command data base would round things out nicely.

    Now that would be change!
