I was shocked at all the great material skipped in the second season – Octavian and Antony’s various marriages, Agrippa’s campaign against Fulvia Antonia (Mark Antony’s wife) his naval victory off Sicily, and his leadership at Actium, Antony’s campaigns against the Parthian Empire, Lepidus’ fall from power, Cleopatra’s assissination of her siblings, ect...

Having skipped all that good stuff to get to the death of Cleopatra and Antony, what would be left for a third season?

I think a series about the Peloponnesian War (maybe loosely based on “Tides of War” by Steven Presser) would be great. A series based on Bernard Cornwell’s books about the Saxon and Danish conquests of Britain would be great as well.

I tend to agree as well.

Instead of more seasons of Rome, I do believe it would be good business on the producers part to take other periods of history and try to give the same quality presentation as was done with Rome.

Personally, I'd like to see Rome quality productions on such personages as Constantine, General Belisarius and Charlemagne.</blockquote>

They most likely won't, since the reason they're not doing more seasons is the massive amount of money the series cost them.

I agree. It was great in the first season and good in the second season; the third would have been mediocre. I also disliked the negative spin on Octavian, who became an awfully good ruler. And wondered why we were bothering with the Timon subplot.

As part of series withdrawal, I've been reading historical fiction on Rome: So far, I've read three different takes on Cicero and his secretary/slave Tyro. I read up on Marius and Sulla too to get the context.
