Click here to see what I’m inhaling eating. And speaking of eating, I get a craving for fish about once every two years–that’s fish as in decent, God-fearing fresh-water fish, ideally trout or catfish, prepared and eaten as God intended, dipped in egg, rolled in cornmeal and flour, deep-fried, on a bun with tartar sauce. So I picked up a couple of catfish fillets at the store (no point in buying tartar–I can mix up my own).

I have a theory about why some people don’t like seafood. Most of the seafood-haters I’ve known were born and raised far from the ocean so any seafood they had came from miles away and was no longer fresh. Seafood must be eaten (or flash-frozen) the same day that it was caught. The lemon meringue pie does look delicious.

Nonsense. I’ve eaten fish right on the gulf coast and the pacific, in Florida and California. It’s nasty cause it’s fishy. It tastes rotten. Fresh-water fish, fine. I don’t hate it. I just don’t ever want it. Never tempted to order it. Don’t even glance at the seafood portion of a menu. Every couple of years, though, I pine for some good, fried fish. Not steamed. Not broiled. Fried. On a bun. With tartar sauce.
