Romney at CPAC today.

It’s official. Romney dropped out at CPAC:

Even though we face an uphill fight, I know that many in this room are fully behind my campaign.” You are with me all the way to the convention. Fight on, just like Ronald Reagan did in 1976. But there is an important difference from 1976: today… we are a nation at war.

And Barack and Hillary have made their intentions clear regarding Iraq and the war on terror. They would retreat and declare defeat. And the consequence of that would be devastating. It would mean attacks on America, launched from safe havens that make Afghanistan under the Taliban look like child’s play. About this, I have no doubt.

I disagree with Senator McCain on a number of issues, as you know. But I agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq, on finding and executing Osama bin Laden, and on eliminating Al Qaeda and terror. If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

This is not an easy decision for me. I hate to lose. My family, my friends and our supporters… many of you right here in this room… have given a great deal to get me where I have a shot at becoming President. If this were only about me, I would go on. But I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, I feel I must now stand aside, for our party and for our country.

No foot stamping. No laying blame. No excuses. Very adult, very responsible, and very classy. The whole transcript is here.

So much for voting for Mitt in the primary, it seems. I guess I’ll vote for McCain.

Pearl Jam Will Not Rest Until John McCain Is Elected President

who are seriously confused, that is (hat tip to Gabriel). Liberals are confused, too:

Beyer said Obama’s “warmth” and his early opposition to the war in Iraq are big selling points with female voters. “In many ways, he really will be the first woman president,” she said.

First, it was Bill — as lily white as a guy can get — who was the “first black president,” and now Obama would be the “first woman president.” Do these liberals understand the distinction between negroid and caucasoid, or male and female? Are they obsessed with irrelevant labels, and attach them like name tags, whether they reflect reality or not?

I mysteriously get put on mailing lists — mysteriously, because it’s always a list I’ve never heard of, and never in a million years would have signed up for. Somehow, I got put on the Media Matters list. I also somehow got put on the HuffingPo list. As you can imagine, I never wanted to be on either, and have no idea how I suddenly started getting their mail. I’ve tried to unsub from both, by the way, and that hasn’t worked.

Some lists seem to follow me from addy to addy. Back when I was at the business school, I mysteriously got added to a business diversity list — again, you can imagine, I’m sure, how interesting I found that. Anyway, that was at the university email addy. Yet somehow, I’m still on that list, and it “found” me here.

All of the above are somehow tangentially related to things that interest me. What mystifies me are the bizarre lists I get added to.

Like the Indian TV list. That’s “Indian” as in India. Bollywood TV. Then there’s some UK railroads mailing list that, for some reason, I’m on. Oh, and a vaginal yeast infections mailing list.

No, I don’t click random buttons on web pages. I did not, ever, in any way that I can tell, subscribe to any of these lists.

So does this just happen to me?
