Not funny, at least not ha-ha funny, but shake your head with a rueful grin, downright pathetic. Obama doesn’t want to have any more debates, obviously, because, as BSC.Beth says (email, so no link):
That’s cause he can’t debate. He doesn’t like to answer questions. He doesn’t see the point. He’s right and the little people don’t really need to be asking him anything. After all. He’s OBAMA!
All of this “eloquent speaker” crap is just that: crap. He’s good at delivering canned speeches. That’s it. Alan Keyes is an eloquent speaker (though he’s completely off the wall nuts). The difference between Obama and Keyes is that Obama can’t talk his way out of a paper bag if it’s not prepared, and Keyes can spin a phrase as beautifully whether canned or off the cuff.
Does Obama think he can get away without debating McCain, should he be the nominee? Or will he insist on a non-debate “debate,” where he gets all the questions beforehand so he can prepare answers — and if so, does he think anybody will let him get away with that crap?
And McCain is, if anything, the opposite of Obama, although overall, a better speaker. McCain is fine with canned speeches, but he shines when he’s just talking. That’s because unlike Obama, McCain has a personality, real charisma. Obama doesn’t have a chance against Johnny Mac, unless McCain does something really stupid. And for somebody with as many years of political experience, that’s unlikely. The Democrat will have no choice but to run on the issues, since there’s no dirt to dig up, and that’s never a good thing for Democrats, especially not a terrorist loving Marxist like Obama.
I’m looking forward to this fall. This is going to be a fun race to watch.
