GOP Convention
Well, it looks like I’ll get credentials to blog the convention — I finally got an email message yesterday. But I’m rather at a loss about arrangements. The GOP has booked over 17,000 rooms and all of the hotels are booked, of course, and the site says delegates will receive room assignments and I recall getting an update saying the same thing about the press, but what about us? Am I supposed to sit here, assuming that the GOP is going to send me an assigned room?
Oh, and check out the airline prices. Forget the price of gas. $3,000 to fly to Minneapolis — three months from now?
Sheesh.

You could always hitch-hike and stay free with a friend of mine - a pot-head “poet” whom I only tolerate because he is a Vietnam vet. Of course you’ll wake up stoned every morning from second-hand smoke. :(
Congratulations!
You’ve been in on conference calls and such, all leading up to this. How did it start? Did you contact the campaign or the party, did they follow your support of McCain on your blog–How?
The calls and the convention aren’t connected.
Getting on the conference calls is easy (I chided Malkin for whining about not being asked). Get on the McCain victory mailing list, that’s it. Certain people who shall remain nameless have gotten lax about sending out notices, but you reply to the notice, and get the number and the passcode.
I applied to blog the convention. Actually, that’s a whole story in itself, so I’ll deal with it in a post.
