You style yourself as a stats guru. I’m sure then that you may find this analysis of the poll results interesting, that is if your politics don’t blind you.
It’s a pet-owners poll. Get a sense of proportion, veblen - maybe they’ll be having a two-for-one sale & you can score a free sense of humor while you’re out. Save some gas…
And ‘Prof, I object to the counting of fish individually. Far as I can tell, fish are a singular aggregate - you have two cats, three dogs, a gerbil, and some fish. *Maybe* you count fish by the tankful.
Actually, I object to calling fish pets, but I wasn’t going to say so. Interesting moving objects, perhaps, but probably not pets. Unless you have an octopus. That would count.
“You style yourself as a stats guru. I’m sure then that you may find this analysis of the poll results interesting, that is if your politics don’t blind you.” Actually the article you quuote is somewhat blinded in that it states that correlation is not causation, but forgets to mention that something that a correlation while not necessarily causation may well be causation. Shame on you for trying to twist this out of shape. What it says it that people who own pets prefer mcCain plain and simple. Trying to delve into why that is and saying pet ownership has nothing to do with the cause is ludicrous. Pet ownership or the desire to own pets may have everthing to do with why people are succesful in the firs tplace, and therefore make them want tovote for the potential winner instead of the potential loser. You figure it.
“you have two cats, three dogs, a gerbil, and some fish” That is until you go fishing with your son, and you catch ONE fish, and he catches 12 fish. You try to tell your spouse how you caught some fish, and do it straight faced in front of your son who just outfished you.
Also, try going to a pet store to buy some fish, instead of 2 of those fish, and 4 of those other fish. Fish can be either a singular fish or many in the aggregate, it depends on how you are using the word at the moment - so saying someone has 12 fish would be quite correct if you were being specific as to their number.
