Great Comments

First, the context. Here’s the picture.

Here’s the professional journalist’s or gateway keeper’s or urban idiot’s (take your pick) statement.

Hey, is that even the right way to hold a rifle? Can’t you shoot your foot off like that?

Tim Blair posted about this yesterday. Great comments.

It takes a really special kind of stupid to unite an entire comments page on the internet against oneself.

Is that the proper way to write a blog post? Couldn’t you get your foot stuck in your mouth writing it that way? Oh, you did already.

to which another commenter replies:

Actually, it’s more a case of only the rightwing making comments. The lefties are still trying to figure out what the humor is about.

or

Snead’s remark is typical of so many reporters, and liberals in general.

The reporter clearly doesn’t know anything about guns. Just as clearly, Sarah Palin does. So if the reporter thinks the pose looks unsafe, her first guess ought to be that she’s mistaken.

Consider the breath-taking stupidity. Having no familiarity with firearms, she nevertheless presumes that she knows how to handle them better than a longtime hunter does.

And she probably thinks Sarah Palin is stupid.

There are a lot of good comments at the original, too. This may be the best, though.

That is a 50 caliber automatic street-sweeper cop-killer assault weapon. Not only could she have blown her foot off, she could’ve killed every human within a 1000 yard radius. Which she would’ve probably enjoyed, since she loves to kill things. She is terrifying, and I have nightmares about her every night.

Hold me.

Behind, I Guess

This has been going around for a couple of days. It’s actually really good.

This guy’s voting McCain-Palin, and he tells you why. The analogy to crabs in a bucket is genius.

“Matt Damon, I think you should be more gracious toward Sarah Palin because if she would have known you back in the day and have known that your prognosis would have made you the mental handicap that you are today, she still would have even supported your right to live.”

He has a few other entertaining videos up here.

A Review

On my way back, I had a terrible case of hunger pangs. On Fridays, I normally run to Mickey D’s for a filet o’ fish or two, and I like Mickey D’s as much as anybody, but let’s fact it, fish is not one of their strengths. Last Friday, I discovered that nobody on this side of town (other than Mickey D’s) even has a fish sandwich. So today, I drove to the other side of town to Long John Silvers.

It’s been, oh, at least twenty years since I’ve frequented LJS. If they have a fish sandwich (I was really hungry, and it would have been nice to be able to eat it on the way home), it wasn’t on the menu, so I got the two pieces of fish and fries.

The fish was fine. The fries weren’t as good as I remembered — they had an odd texture, and sort of a floury taste. But. But. But.

Where were the crumblies?

You used to get all those wonderful crumblies in the bottom, and there wasn’t a one. Did that idiot woman who married Ray Croc and has done everything in her power to bring down Mickey D’s buy LJS when I wasn’t paying attention? Did they decide the health nazis would go after them if they didn’t stop serving them?

Where were the crumblies?

Next time, I suppose I’ll have to ask.

And News From Pennsylvania

Looks like more charges against ACORN here.

The Allegheny County district attorney said Thursday that criminal charges could result from nearly 100 fraudulent voter registrations submitted in the Pittsburgh area, some of which came from a group accused of flooding elections offices around the country with bogus applications.

District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said county police are reviewing voter-registration applications from the past 45 days.

“There are clearly people on some of these applications that were not solicited … or may not exist,” he said.

Asked whether the investigation would lead to charges, Zappala said: “There appears to be a crime, yes.”

Violations of election laws generally are misdemeanor charges, but forging a signature on an official document is a violation of criminal law and could be a felony. In Pennsylvania, a second-degree felony forgery conviction could carry up to 10 years in prison.

Elections Division Manager Mark Wolosik said employees of his office found registration cards missing critical information or bearing signatures that did not match voters’ signatures on file. Wolosik said he referred the cases to county police.

Yesterday, there were investigations in ten states — in one week. Net Right Nation has been created just to track them. Boehner has called for a stop to federal funding for this nest of rattlesnakes, and Matt Johnson raises the obvious question: How did they get it in the first place?

More Indiana News

Via Gateway Pundit, cease and desist order issued against Obama campaign.

The Obama campaign in Indiana, on September 27, unlawfully obtained and made unauthorized use of a proprietary media list belonging to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms industry. Sen. Obama used this list to e-mail a press release concerning National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Earlier today, NSSF sent a “cease and desist” letter to the Obama campaign demanding that they immediately stop any further unauthorized misuse of its proprietary media list.

The list contains the names and addresses of members of the media that attended the NSSF Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) – the world’s largest firearms trade show and the 23rd largest trade show of any kind in North America.

The list can only be obtained from NSSF and its use is tightly controlled by NSSF. Neither the Obama campaign, nor its operations in Indiana, obtained any rights from NSSF to use the list.

NSSF’s letter also demands that the Obama campaign destroy all copies of the list, identify how they obtained the list and pay monetary damages to NSSF for its misappropriation and unauthorized use of the association’s intellectual property.

But, but, they’re entitled to anything they want!

American Papist:

William Donohue proves the point by penning a tongue-in-cheek reply to Nick Cafardi’s article, “I’m Catholic, Staunchly Anti-Abortion, and Support Obama.” (More on the Cafardi story here.)

Donohue’s satirical response: “I’m Catholic, Staunchly Anti-Racist, and Support David Duke.”
