Family Get-Togethers
Clicky for biggy:
First, St John the Apostle, where I went years ago, and where I went to Midnight Mass (more on that later). They built a new church, in an entirely different place; it’s a good thing I went to the webpage to check the schedule, or I would have driven to the wrong place, and had no idea where they were. It was a grey, gloomy day. There are more pictures on their webpage. St John’s is the real Catholic parish in town; St Chuck’s has always been of the Sr. Mary Birkenstock variety, and there’s St Paul’s, the campus parish, but there’s no telling what they’re into these days. Like I said, more later.
The family gathering:
And the food:
Yes, that’s bacon in the green beans (in addition to the ham, which didn’t come out in the photo). And
That’s my brother’s finger pointing to the as-yet-unmelted butter. It was his idea (and the finger looks a lot closer to the potatoes in the photo than it was).

Hey Prof:
What a wonderful picture. Thanks for sharing. I hosted Christmas dinner this year and thought of you when I was in the kitchen. I made this knish inspired dish with a cilantro, dill and yogurt sorta chutney among other things. Hope you have a great rest of year and a wonderful New Year. You don’t see pics like yours very often. Family is wonderous:)
I suppose the church looks prettier in summer. At least it isn’t in the “washing machine agitator” style of architecture.
